Sausalito Council Election: Hoffman and Saad Hold Early Top-Two Positions

SAUSALITO, Marin County — November 4, 2026. Four candidates competed for two Sausalito City Council seats in the November 3 general election. Jill James Hoffman and Nastassya Saad held the two highest totals in Marin County’s preliminary late-night reporting, with Joan Cox and Adrian Brinton still in the race.

Candidate votes in early reporting

The KQED results report updated at 11:13 p.m. listed Jill James Hoffman: 987 votes (30.9%), Nastassya Saad: 821 (25.7%) and Joan Cox: 711 (22.2%). NBC Bay Area’s earlier snapshot placed Adrian Brinton at 672 votes and showed Saad ahead of Cox by 110 reported candidate selections.

How to interpret a vote-for-two race

In a contest for two seats, candidate-vote percentages are shares of reported selections, not shares of unique voters. They cannot be compared directly to a mayoral contest where a resident chooses a single person. The second-place position remains particularly important as outstanding ballots are processed.

Local decisions at stake

The next City Council will consider questions of land use, waterfront planning, public facilities, finances and everyday services in Sausalito. These are local policy areas; the campaign result is not a referendum on any individual proposal.

Only Marin County’s completed canvass determines the certified vote totals. These figures are an election-night snapshot, and the newsroom is not declaring official winners.

Reporting note: Vote totals are from KQED’s Marin County results display updated November 3, 2026 at 11:13 p.m. Pacific, based on election-office data. They are unofficial and will change as valid ballots are processed. Marin County’s Elections Department has scheduled new reports beginning November 5.
