SAUSALITO, Marin County — October 31, 2026. A heritage tree removal application at 121 South Street is set for a Planning Commission public hearing on November 11. Sausalito’s public-notice register identifies a request involving one incense cedar in a private rear yard; residents following urban canopy and property development decisions can review the application before the meeting.
What the application says
According to the city’s notice, the tree is an incense cedar (Calocedrus decurrens) with a reported 33-inch diameter at breast height. It stands on the southeast side of the rear yard at 121 South Street, adjacent to proposed construction. The application was submitted by a tree professional on behalf of the property owner.
Does the notice authorize removal?
No. The public notice announces consideration of a tree-removal permit. It should not be confused with a final Planning Commission decision or proof that the tree has been cut down. The notice also references a statutory exemption from environmental review; that is distinct from an automatic approval of the requested permit.
How residents can follow the case
Review the Planning Division Public Notices and the relevant commission agenda for the meeting time, staff analysis, evidence and participation procedures. Questions about the permit can be directed to Sausalito Community Development.
This application is separate from the previously noticed October 28 hearing concerning two Italian stone pines at 17 Willow Lane. Mixing the two cases would obscure their different properties and trees.
