SAUSALITO, Marin County — October 31, 2026. Sausalito marked completion of improvements at waterfront Dunphy Park on September 18, 2026. The city’s news page records a community celebration of the finished work, a notable change for people who walk, gather and enjoy the Richardson Bay shoreline.

What changed at the waterfront?

The most recent phase focused on restoring and extending usable shoreline space at the park. Earlier city plans described work on the southern portion, with a path extension, landscaping and public seating, following a first phase that improved other parts of the park.

For residents, the practical benefit is easier use of a public park that connects neighborhood recreation to the bay. A park can offer open space and access without necessarily providing a purpose-built boat launching facility.

How this differs from Turney Street

Dunphy Park improvements are not the same as the separate Turney Street boat ramp reconstruction. Sausalito has discussed future improvements to that launch location, including design and permitting steps. The completion announcement for Dunphy Park should not be used to claim the Turney Street reconstruction has also finished.

What visitors should know

Residents can review the city’s official park and municipal announcements for updated access conditions and facility rules. Any temporary restrictions arising from high tides, storm-related flooding or maintenance should be checked before setting out, particularly during the late-October coastal flooding period.

The park’s transformation is also part of a longer effort to restore and improve a former shoreline fill area for public enjoyment. That history gives the recent completion a distinctly Sausalito context rather than making it a generic parks announcement.
